People are the main resource of any organization. Their adequate training and qualification can mean the difference between a company's mere survival and its sustainable growth in the marketplace. The training and qualification of human resources is essential to any business and, therefore, it must be a main concern for every single business organization, in what concerns specific or general training aiming towards the future improvement of their collaborators. Costa Verde is a company with certified Quality Management systems (NP EN ISO 9001:2000), Environmental Management systems (NP EN ISO 14001:1999) and Health and Safety Management systems (OHSAS 18001:1999) and dully accredited by DGERT as a training entity. The company conceives, develops, manufactures and sells earthenware and porcelain dishware. PCV holds an important position in the national and Iberian sector in the hotel and home segments. It also has a very modern industrial unit, which uses innovative design and manufacture methods. The company's strong technological and design capabilities, experience and quality products along with its high level of service have been key factors in its ability to remain competitive and have allowed it to reach the most demanding markets. Costa Verde was, in October 2007, accredited as a training entity by DGERT, and over the past few years it has invested heavily in the improvement of its human resources in a structured manner by promoting training courses for its collaborators and considering this a vital factor in assuring and maintaining its competitiveness in the market. The increase of the personal and professional skills of its collaborators as well as of their qualifications is a challenge which the company is facing head on. In 2007/2008, the company underwent changes inherent to the evolution of its organizational system. It implemented the Kaizen system (Continuous improvement) as a means to improve the company's productivity and their products' lead time; this also entailed a profound restructuring/optimization of the workstations and job functions in order to respond to an increasingly more competitive market. The company's investment in human resources aims to closely monitor the various restructuring phases, aiming to suppress the needs met by the staff due to the changes inherent to the change and adaptation of job functions, thus ensuring the company's ability to process and integrate the existing new technologies. The formalization of an innovation strategy in what concerns knowledge management, shall guide the company towards a logic of productivity in terms of value, using the existing set of technological and technical gains, along with a group of collaborators with certified competences. |
